Yes, that's a word kiddos do NOT like to hear. I try not to say, "No" but rather, "Why don't you do this instead ...." or "Maybe we should look at something else ..." You know, using the element of distraction rather than 'no-ing' the whole day long.
So, the little one saw my new bracelet today and couldn't resist the temptation not to touch it ... I ultimately had to resort to the big N-O after all my 'why-don't-you's' and 'perhaps-you-should's'. That word got her attention pronto and this is what followed ...
A "Hmmmm .... I think mummy's
really serious this time ... " ...
and a big sorry hug ...
